Malvern Elementary fifth-grade social-studies students in Nancy DeDent's classes recently demonstrated their good citizenship by raising money to help victims of the earthquake in Haiti. The students brought in items to create gift baskets, which they sold raffle tickets for, and also put together small bags of candy to sell. One student, Payton Decker, even donated $30 of her own money, DeDent noted. The students raised approximately $300, which will be donated to the Red Cross. Raffle winners are (from left) Devair Williams, Maggie Champer, Payton Decker, John Browning, and (not pictured) Zoie Williamson. Comments
