Colton Kiko, 13, and Max, his Holstein dairy beef feeder, hang out in the dairy barn. Kiko is a member of Mud Lake Beavers 4-H Club and a Minerva Middle School student.

Alex Fraley, 12, teaches visitors to the sheep barn how to felt wool around a bar of soap. Fraley is a Minerva Middle School student and member of the 4-H Farmhands club.

Madeline Fraley, 10, hangs out with Baby Doll, a blue-faced Leicester sheep. Fraley and Baby Doll were champions in showmanship and open class ewe.

Harrison Kiko, 10, of Minerva, showed Carl, his Holstein dairy beef feeder at the Stark County Fair. Kiko is a member of Mud Lake Beavers 4-H Club.

Joey Sponseller, 14, showed hogs Joker and Madison at the fair. Sponseller, of Minerva, is a member of the Washington Township Variety 4-H Club.

Tara King of Minerva hangs out with Chester. King is a Kent State University student and member of 4-H Farmhands club.

Kaylynn Lanzer, 13, of Minerva, won second place in junior showmanship with Toodles, her LaMancha goat. Lanzer is a member of Country Barbwires 4-H Club. Lanzer also won reserve champion for intermediate goat showmanship, first in goat skillathon, best of breed for her New Zealand rabbit, reserve champion for best of open class, best commercial rabbit, and best opposites.

Madison Kiko, 12, works with Jasper, her Holstein dairy market steer. Kiko is a Minerva Middle School student and Mud Lake Beavers 4-H Club member.

Sydney Slagle, 18, of Minerva, showed Bella, a market hog, at the Stark County Fair. Slagle is an Ohio University student and member of 4-H Farmhands club.

Erin Sponseller, 13, and Caitlin Sponseller, 10, of Minerva, showed hogs, including Nacho and Babe, at the Stark County Fair. The girls are members of the Washington Township Variety 4-H Club.

T.J. King of Minerva placed ninth in the market class with Cooter, a Hereford. King is a member of the 4-H Farmhands club.

Aaron Stanik, 13, of Minerva, showed his Holstein, Thunder, at the fair. Stanik is a member of Mud Lake Beavers 4-H Club.

Aimee Sponseller, 18, of Minerva, hangs out with her blue butt hogs, Sweet Pea and Daisy. Sponseller is a member of the Washington Township Variety 4-H Club.

Abbie Greer, daughter of Brenda and Damon Greer of Paris Township, showed her broilers at the Stark County Fair. A member of the 4-H Farmhands club, Abbie placed 41st with her broilers and third in showmanship in the beginner division. She is a fourth grader at Minerva Elementary.

Jenny Cogan (left) and Holly Evans, both of Minerva, pose with Evans’ pregnant cow, Sally, which won first in the dry-cow class for Holsteins. Cogan was helping her cousins, who operate Elrac Holsteins in East Rochester, with their animals.

Kathryn Blocher won first place in showmanship in her class with her Hereford, Pokey. A Minerva High School senior, Blocher is a member of the Mud Lake Beavers 4-H Club and the daughter of Tim and Theresa Blocher.

Rachel Blocher, daughter of Tim and Theresa Blocher, received fifth place with her heifer, Hokey. The Minerva High School freshman is a member of Mud Lake Beavers 4-H Club.

Middle Run Farm in Malvern showed its cattle at the Stark County Fair. Paige (left) and Susan Thompson, daughters of Jim and Dechelle Thompson of Malvern, pose with one of the Holsteins their family showed. Paige is a freshman, while Susan is a fifth grader at Malvern schools.

Robertsville Grange members were busy dishing out Salisbury steak and other goodies at their eat stand at the Stark County Fair. From left, are Chuck Bebout, chairperson of the eat stand, Lisa Nemitz and Susan Croston.

Terry Gram, owner of Arrowhead Orchard in Paris, provided samples of his homegrown apples and locally made apple butter to those coming into the Stark County Farm Bureau’s tent. Apples ready for eating included Early Gold, Molly Delicious, Golden Supreme and Honey Crisp.
