NBC scholar/athletes honored at Minerva Winter Sports Banquet

The Minerva Winter Sports Banquet was held recently, honoring those athletes who participated in cheerleading, basketball, wrestling and bowling.

Wrestling

Receiving his fourth varsity letter is senior Stephen Becker, while junior Colton Shaw picked up his third letter.

Two-year lettermen included senior Kevin Sweitzer; junior Cody McGee; and sophomores Zack Lutes and Mike Wilson.

Receiving their first varsity letters are junior Tyler Fletcher and Mike Malone; sophomore Adam Orwig; and freshmen Jacob Hawk, Tyler King, Micah Kullman, Patrick Miller and Dustin Minor.

Reserve awards went to junior Dean Hilkert; sophomores Eric Louive and Josh Vietmeier; and freshmen John Allen, Kolby DePalmo, Brandon Hale, Cody Seibert and Colton Tomlinson.

Stephen Becker and Colton Shaw were selected to the All-NBC first team, Cody McGee to the second team, while Zack Lutes and Micah Kullman received honorable-mention status.

Boys Bowling

Elliot Hall is the lone recipient of the Minerva Scholar/Athlete Award.

Receiving his fourth varsity letter is senior Austin Eick.

Three-year lettermen are senior Clay Glaspell and junior Chip Wright.

Junior Elliot Hall received his second varsity letter, while sophomore Jarrod Becker and freshman Taylor Wright picked up their first varsity letters.

Reserve awards went to sophomores John Leidner and Luke Ramey and freshman Brad Foresha.

Chip Wright, Austin Eick and Jarrod Becker were selected to the American Division first team, while Taylor Wright and Elliot Hall were named to the second team.

Girls Bowling

Juniors Brittany Hudy, Tara King, Staci Thomas and Rachel Treep all received their second varsity letters.

First-year letter winners included senior Tanya Shiplett, junior Amanda Phillips and freshman Katlin Thayer.

Junior Margo Albright received a reserve award.

Brittany Hudy was selected as the American Division Player of the Year.

Joining her on the first team are Tara King, Amanda Phillips, Rachel Treep and Katlin Thayer. Second-team honors went to Staci Thomas.

Boys Basketball

Receiving the prestigious Northeastern Buckeye Conference Scholar/Athlete Award are Brian Harp, Ryker Locke and Grant Summer.

Minerva scholar athletes included Ellis Battista, Seth Scrimo, Ryan Ferrell, Jeremy Fick, Austin Fraley, Chas Johnson, D.J. Marrah, Troy Oyer, Drew Prendergast and Josh Sayre.

Receiving their second varsity letters are senior Andrew Lairson, junior Josh Fick and sophomore Brian Harp.

First-year lettermen included senior Aaron Roberts, juniors James McCully and Troy Summers and sophomores Mitch Dulaney, Ryker Locke and Grant Summer.

Reserve awards went to juniors Jered Hochadel, Jonathan Lieser and Justin Wade; sophomores Ellis Battista, Damien Elifritz and Seth Scrimo; and freshman Jeremy Fick.

Freshman awards were presented to Nate Brown, Anthony Cayton, Ryan Ferrell, Austin Fraley, Mike Green, Chas Johnson, D.J. Marrah, Mike Mayle, Troy Oyer, Drew Prendergast, Josh Sayre, Andre Spinell, Cody Tompulis and Jake Wilson.

Andrew Lairson was selected to the All-NBC second team, while Josh Fick and Ryker Locke received honorable-mention status.

Cheerleading

Receiving the NBC Scholar/Athlete Award are Kourtney Betler, Autumn Campbell, Felicia Lumley, Ashley Marrah, Sara McCray, Jessica Willison, Aliya Murphy and Brittany Irwin.

Minerva scholar athletes are Andrea Michel, Carolinn Mills and Morgan Trussel.

Earning her second varsity letter is senior Kourtney Betler.

First-year letter winners are juniors Autumn Campbell, Hillary Carle, Jen Cogan, Casie Jarvis, Felicia Lumley, Ashley Marrah, Sara McCray, Kathy Webster and Jessica Willison.

Reserve awards went to sophomores Sarah Gliatta, Jessica Hauenstein, Jordan Lambert, Britanny Lyons, McKenna McCullough, Andrea Michel and Aliya Murphy.

Freshman awards were presented to Brittany Irwin, Taylor Jarvis, Courtney McGuire, Carolinn Mills, Aliysha Stermer, Katlin Thayer and Morgan Trussel.

Competition

Receiving their third varsity letters are senior Athena Spinell and juniors Autumn Campbell, Casie Jarvis and Ashley Marrah.

Second-year letter winners are junior Hillary Carle and Felicia Lumley and sophomores Jessica Hauenstein and Aliya Murphy.

Earning their first varsity letters are sophomore Mc-Kenna McCullough and freshman Brittany Irwin and Aliysha Stermer.

Girls Basketball

Six Lady Lions received the prestigious NBC Scholar/Athlete Award. They are Angela Grindstaff, Addie Riley, Tosha Fields, Kassidy Hardgrove, Taylor Maurer and Katie Mihok.

Minerva scholar athletes are Elyse Brigham, Heather Evanich, Ashley Kerr, Katelyn Myers, Brittany Phelps and Ann Marie Soles.

Receiving their third varsity letters are seniors Brooke Preston, Athena Spinell and Brittney Yost.

Earning their first varsity letters are juniors Angela Grindstaff and Addie Riley; sophomore Tosha Fields; and freshmen Chelsie Butler, Kassidy Hardgrove, Taylor Maurer and Katie Mihok.

Selected to the All-NBC first team is Brooke Preston. Second-team honors went to Chelsie Butler, while Athena Spinell and Tosha Fields received honorable-mention status.

Preston was named to the District IV first team, while Fields and Butler were selected to the honorable-mention squad.

Preston was named to the All-Northeast Inland District first team, while Butler received honorable-mention status.

Preston was also selected to the All-Ohio Division II honorable-mention team.
