A Malvern couple are facing multiple drug charges after a lengthy investigation into the husband and wife allegedly growing marijuana plants in their home and garage.
The Carroll County Drug Task Force arrested Joseph J. Mammone, 46, of 7120 Sycamore Road, Malvern, and Shannon A. Mammone, 41, same address, without incident at their residence on April 4. Each are charged with cultivation, a third-degree felony, and trafficking, a fifth-degree felony.
At 3:30 p.m. April 4, narcotics officers from the Carroll County Sheriff's Narcotics Unit, the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation, and the Tuscarawas County L.E.A.D. Narcotics Task Force executed a search warrant that was obtained from the Carroll County Municipal Court at the suspects' residence.
Officers discovered 31marijuana plants as well as two firearms, $500 in cash, growing materials, grow lights, processed marijuana, and numerous drug abuse instruments. According to Carroll County Sheriff Dale Williams, the marijuana plants were being dried for processing and were valued at approximately $31,000.
Joseph Mammone is out on a $250,000 cash and surety bond, following a bond hearing April 7. Shannon Mammone remains in the Carroll County Jail.
Williams said these arrests were the result of good police work and cooperation between all agencies involved.
