May 7, 2008

Habitat for Humanity will benefit from a Thrivent-Builds fundraiser being held May 24, serving from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. in the parking lot of Kishman's IGA, Minerva.

The fundraiser will include a barbecue pork sandwich with a pop for $3.50, or two sandwiches and a pop for $6. There will also be bulk sales of the barbecue pork available for $4 per pound by calling Steve Fletcher at 330-868-6728. The deadline for the bulk sales will be May 16 and may be picked up at St. Paul's Lutheran Church on May 23 from 3 to 6 p.m.

All proceeds will benefit the local Habitat home being built in Carroll County on Lunar Road with groundbreaking to take place in June of 2008. This fundraiser is being sponsored by Carr Thrivent Financial, Kishman's IGA and the Carroll and Stark Habitat for Humanity.

Through the ThriventBuilds program, Thrivent Financial for Lutherans furnishes 65 percent of the cost of a home with Habitat for Humanity contributing 25 percent and the last 10 percent to be raised by the local community. All donations are appreciated in support of this project for the community.

"ThriventBuilds makes the impact of Thrivent Financial members who join in service even greater," said Steve Fletcher of the Carroll and Harrison Chapter 30764 of Thrivent Financial in Minerva. "It's tremendously exciting to know that when we volunteer, the organization that brings us together multiplies the good we do, providing even more help to people in need and to our community. This project is just one example of the real difference we're making in people's lives."
