Ohio Forestry and Wildlife Conservation Camp is open to students who are at least 15 years of age and who have completed the eighth grade.
Have you ever wondered what types of trees are in Ohio's forests? Or what kinds of relationships organisms have with the forest? These things will be learned through programs such as dendrology (tree identification) and forest ecology. Other programs include silviculture, which is the care and cultivation of forests: forest measurements, which is the measurement of trees, logs and the inventory of stands of trees; wildlife management, which is how the management of forests and wildlife are interrelated; and forest products, a study of the various items created from the forests.
Ohio Forestry and Wildlife Conservation Camp is held at Camp Muskingum which is situated on Leesville Lake in the beautiful rolling hills of Carroll county. This is where campers have the opportunity to learn first-hand how to appreciate Ohio's forests and natural resources.
Camp will be held June 15-20. Carroll Soil and Water Conservation District has sponsors that are willing to pay for students to attend this camp. The deadline for application is May 15.
