Diversified Health Occupations students from the R. G. Drage Career Technical Center attended the Ohio Health Occupations Students of America Leadership Conference in April in Dayton. Of the 450 students from across the state competing at this event, nine from R. G. Drage qualified to go on to the National HOSA Conference in Dallas, Texas, this summer. Four of the nine qualifiers were Minerva or Malvern students.
Jessica Goebeler from Minerva High School, along with Jennifer Johnson, Cortney Ferguson, and Caitlin Thomas from Louisville, won second place in the HOSA Bowl. This is similar to Academic Challenge. Jessica is the daughter of William and Dawn Goebeler of Minerva.
Victoria Wilson from Malvern High School won second place in the Knowledge Test of Nutrition. She is the daughter Rebecca Brian of East Canton.
Sasha Grapatin from Minerva High School won second place in the Knowledge Test of Human Growth and Development. She is the daughter Linda Grapatin of East Rochester.
Ali Horn from Malvern High School won third place in the nursing-assistant event. She is the daughter of Darrin Horn of East Sparta and Rhonda Lehnott of Malvern.
