Senior Minerva band students honored

Five senior instrumentalists were presented with awards at the Minerva High School annual spring band concert April 30.

The John Phillip Sousa Award, recognizing leadership, loyalty, honesty, and dependability, was presented to Morgan Sanor.

The Patrick S. Gilmore Award, which honors the same characteristics, was presented to Tessa DiGiacomo, Nick Michel, and Kathy Slack.

John Barnhart received the Louis Armstrong Jazz Award, which is presented to the outstanding student jazz musician.

Directors Deb Tissot and Dereck Maxey also presented awards from the band's trip to Disney World, including the Sleepy Award, Kevin Sweitzer; Grumpy Award, Bill Dine; Doc Award, Melody Miller; Dopey Award, Cheryl Baudendistel; and Sneezy Award, Brogan Zwick.

All graduating seniors were recognized. They are John Barnhart, Travis Belcher, Sabrina Detchon, Tessa DiGiacomo, Morgan Douglas, Leslie Dunlap, Austin Eick, Ashley Evanich, Mallory Evans, Caity Haines, Lisa Haynam, Bbecca Kreierhoff, Spencer Mapes, Jeffrey McPherson, Nicholas Michel, Angela Miller, Zachary Minner, Kara Moore, Kathy Oyer, Haylee Russell, Morgan Sanor, Emily Sechrest, Kathy Slack, Kevin Sweitzer, Chantae Wilder, and Devin Wilder.
