I've been wondering, when they paved the M.I.Day's front yard, did they actually realize the trees they cut down specifically one in mind, were in memory of children who went to the school and had passed on while they were there? One of my classmates passed away in the fifth grade in a tragic car accident. About a month later, we planted a small sapling in the front yard in his memory. Whenever I passed the school, I always looked at the tree which had grown bigger as the years passed and always remember my close friend. I now wonder how many other trees they took down in the front yard that were in some other child's memory from even before him. I feel as if they should do something to preserve these memories of these innocent children who never got to go to middle school, high school, and even graduate. It's just a shame that this has happened and no one has mentioned it.

I am shocked to hear that they cut down valuable trees and destroyed a beautiful lawn to put in a tar pad! I used to love to drive down Bonnie and admire all the nice older homes and the historic grandeur of my old school. I went there when Mary Irene Day was the Principal! Sorry to hear this news.
