Sara L. Kubankin

Sara Lynne Kubankin, 41, of Salem, died Sunday, Feb. 21, 2010, in her home, following a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

She was born July 2, 1968, in Alliance to Linda (Kinsey) Riesen of Alliance and the late Jim Riesen. She was a rural carrier for the Beloit Post Office where she had worked for 15 years. She is a member of the Stillfork Presbyterian Church in Augusta, was a supporter of the Village Variety 4-H Club in Mahoning County, and was a 1986 graduate of West Branch High School.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Victor Kubankin whom she married Aug. 6, 1994; children, Kelly (Brian) Gilbert of Salem, Kevin (Maria) Kubankin of Beloit, and Brandon Johnson of Salem, two sisters, Charlene Riesen and Frank Evans of Homeworth and Marcia Phillis of Alliance; two brothers, Matthew and Steve Riesen, both of Salem; and seven grandchildren, Aaron, Korra, Jazmin, Gage, Gabriel, Starr, and Kayla.

Funeral services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the Stillfork Presbyterian Church in Augusta with the Rev. Virginia Birks and the Rev. James Rice officiating. Burial will be in Augusta Cemetery. Calling hours were Tuesday in the Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home in Minerva. Memorial contributions may be made to the Dante Club in Alliance for the Sara Kubankin Memorial Fund.
