Richard E. "Dick" Conn

Richard E. "Dick" Conn, 75, of Wintersville, died Feb. 23, 2010, at his residence.

He was born March 16, 1934, in Canton, the son of the late Gene A. and Peg R. Keith Conn, of Minerva. Conn retired as a naval officer after 24 years of service and was a chief hospital corpsman. After retiring from the Navy, he continued his career as an optician, until he retired to be at home with his family.

Conn was a member of Hall of Tubal Lodge #551; F&AM, Minerva; 32 degree member of Valley of Canton AASR; VFW; American Legion; Jefferson Sportsman Club; and PER of Elks Lodge. He was an avid fisherman.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Conn; and a daughter-in-law, Gail Conn.

He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia "Pat" Davis Conn; three sons, Gary Conn of Minerva, Greg Conn of Auburn, Ala., and Scott Conn of Blythe, Ga.; stepchildren Nikki Murphy of Wheeling, W.Va., and T.R. Murphy of Steubenville; a brother, Roger Conn of Dayton; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and loving nieces and nephews.

He will sadly be missed by his dog and faithful friend, Sadie.

Calling hours were held at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, Wintersville, on Feb. 25. Burial services were Feb. 26, with Pastor Hester Hudson officiating. A Masonic service was also held. Entombment was at Fort Steuben.
