Neta Lee (Marteney) (Daniel) Hoopes

Neta Lee (Marteney) (Daniel) Hoopes, 95, of Augusta, passed away Wednesday, July 21, in Great Trail Care Center after a prolonged illness. Born in Hall, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Oscar Lee and Nealie Marie (Wagner) Marteney.

She was a homemaker and also worked at Good Roads and TRW. She was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Augusta where she served as a Sunday School teacher and had other roles. She was a member of Eastern Star and the Daughters of the American Revolution where she held many offices. She was involved in numerous other organizations throughout her life.

She is survived by daughter Shirley (Daniel) Blaine, of Garrettsville; grandchildren Kathy (Daniel) Lawson, of Fountain, Fla., Pearl (Daniel) Granados, of San Antonio, Texas, Paula (Daniel) Klingensmith, of Minerva, Paul Daniel, of Sebring, Guy Daniel of Fountain, Fla., Jamie Daniel, of Louisville, Kimberly (Daniel) Kerr, of Marlboro, Matt Daniel, of Sebring, Rachael (Blaine) Hammond, of Mantua, Jeff Blaine, of South Bend, Ind., Kelly (Blaine) Short, of Twinsburg, Bethanne Blaine, of Alliance; 30 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; brothers Perry Marteney, of Minerva, and Gilbert Marteney, of Kidron, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her first husband Wilbur Guy Daniel in 1966, her second husband Clyde Walker Hoopes in 2005; sons Victor Daniel, Paul Daniel and James Daniel; brothers and sisters Clifford Marteney, French Marteney, Sherman Marteney, Thomas Marteney, Mamie (Marteney) Kidder, and Trecy (Marteney) Thompson.

Funeral services were held at the Bartley Funeral Home at 11 a.m. Monday, July 26, with Rev. Mark Thomas officiating. Burial was in Augusta Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Zion Methodist Church or Community Hospice of Tuscarawas, Stark and Carroll Counties.
