Donald Lee Kirven

Donald Lee Kirven, 66, of Minerva, passed away Saturday, Aug. 14, 2010, in his home following a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born Oct. 31, 1943, in Minerva to the late Lawrence and Victoria (Golley) Kirven. He worked for Minerva Welding for 20 years and was a member of the band "Gander Flats," where he sang and played the guitar. He enjoyed working and helping his friends and spending time at home with his wife.

He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Connie (Karam) Kirven, whom he married Nov. 21, 1984; son Trevor Kirven of Alliance; a sister Carol Willison of Salem; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Rick Kirven, and brothers, Jerry and Butch Kirven.

His wish was to be cremated with no services. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hospice Association of Stark County. Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
