John J. Greco

John J. Greco, 85, of Minerva, died peacefully Saturday, Aug. 21, 2010, in the Canton Regency after a long illness.

He was born Aug. 20, 1925, in Canton to Salvatore and Mary (Decola) Greco. He was the owner and operator of Minerva Auto Service and Minerva Motors for many years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII and member of Tubal Lodge 551 F&AM, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Canton, Tadmor Shrine and Carroll Chapter Order of the Eastern Star.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie (Mather) Greco, who died in 1998; four brothers, Joseph, Anthony, James, and Peter Greco; and five sisters, Phyllis Reeder, Mary Dangelo, Rose Smith and infant twin girls.

He is survived by a daughter, Kim (Alan) Fon of Port Aransas, Texas; and a son, Brian Greco of Canton, a brother, Thomas Greco of Cooper City, Fla., and two granddaughters, Olivia and Leigh.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Aug. 25, in the Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home in Minerva with the Rev. Tom Sawyer officiating. Masonic Services were held prior to calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to Minerva Community Meals.
