Nancy J. Doak

Nancy J. Doak, 80, of Minerva, died Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2012, in her home surrounded by her family.

She was born Aug. 12, 1931, in Minerva to Walter and Lydia (Tarbet) Benedict. She graduated from Alliance High School in 1949 and was the office manager for Doak's Garage in New Franklin. She was a member of the New Franklin United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Doak, who died in 2004. She is survived by two sons, Larry (Anna Hinkle) Doak of Minerva and Dave (Deri) Doak of Minerva; three sisters, Wanda Garee of Minerva, Wilma (Virgil) McCammon of Alliance and Bonnie Warner of Alliance; a brother, John Benedict of Westville; four grandchildren, Alex Doak, Brooke (Andrew) Whiteleather, Ryan Doak and Martha (Jesse) Smith; and two great-grandchildren, Carter and Camren.

Funeral services were held Jan. 30 in the Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home in Minerva with the Rev. Elaine Weaver and the Rev. Bill Wright officiating. Burial was in Highland Memorial Park in Beloit. Memorial contributions may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation or the Alliance Visiting Nurse and Hospice.
