Nira B. (McIe) Burden

Nira B. (McIe) Burden, 79, of Alliance, died Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012, at Canterbury Villa.

She was born Oct. 17, 1933, in Diana, W. Va., to John A. and Mary V. (McCourt) McIe. Nira was retired from French-Saxon Pottery in Sebring, where she worked as a handler. She also liked to crochet and do needlework.

Survivors include her sons, James (Barb) Burden, of Minerva, and Gary Burden, of Youngstown; grandsons, Charles Burden, of Indiana, and Benjamin Burden, of North Canton; two great-grandchildren; and one brother, Josh McIe, of Webster Springs, W.Va.

Nira was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert Burden, whom she married on Feb. 16, 1957, and who died on Jan. 5, 2010; sisters, Rose, Eleanor and Gracie; and brother, Jack.

A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m., Thursday Nov. 15, 2012, at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home. Entombment will be at Highland Memorial Park. Arrangements are by Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home, 75 S. Union Ave., Alliance. Friends may register online at www.ctcfuneral.com.
