Carl F. Palmer, 84, of Minerva, died Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, in the Cleveland Clinic.
He was born Oct. 30, 1928, in Moultrie to J. Allen and Frances (Kritser) Palmer. He graduated from Minerva High School in 1946. He was the former co-owner of Palmer Drilling, and had worked for the Paris and Washington Township Insurance Co. He was a member of the Freeburg Church of the Brethren and U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War serving in the Signal Corps.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Ann (Byers) Palmer, whom he married Sept. 10, 1950; four children, Michael Palmer of Lisbon, Kevin and Pamela Palmer of Alliance, Kelly and Martha Palmer of Minerva, and Joel and Lisa Palmer of Alliance; a sister, Mary and Jess Hall of Leesburg, Fla.; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Cope; four brothers, Robert, Kenneth, Ronnie and Richard Palmer; and one great-great-granddaughter, Mia Wilson.
Funeral services will be Thursday, Jan. 24, 11 a.m. in the Freeburg Church of the Brethren with Chad Palmer and Pastor Paul Bartholomew officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
