Verna L. Clapper, 91, of Louisville, and formerly of Paris, left this world to be with her Heavenly Father on Jan. 15, 2013, at Great Trail Care Center, in Minerva.
She was born Dec. 2, 1921 to Earl and Maudie (Newcomer) Clapper. She retired after 26 years from TRW Metals in Minerva, and was a certified reflexologist receiving her training from the International Institute of Reflexology in St. Petersburg, Fla. She reached out to many people in the community using her ability and knowledge to work on the reflex areas in the feet and hands. She was also an avid reader and had a love for animals. She loved the outdoors, gardening and planting flowers. She had many friends and never knew a stranger.
Verna was a member of Mt. Calvary Wesleyan Methodist Church in Minerva, having served as treasurer. She gave generously to her church and missionaries, including Haven of Rest and Evangelical Faith Missions.
She is survived by sister-in-law, Janet Clapper of Louisville; brother-in-law, Charles W. McNatt; five nieces, Jean (Harry) Smith of Salem, Sherry (Mike) Mayle of Louisville, Betty (Tim) Mayle of Louisville, Terri McNatt of Beloit, and Gerri (Larry) McGonagle of Beloit; eight great-nieces and nephews; and nine great-great nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a brother, Robert Clapper; a sister, Mary Helen "Toot" McNatt; and an infant nephew, Jimmy Clapper.
Funeral services were Jan. 19 in the Mt. Calvary Wesleyan Methodist Church in Minerva with Pastor Blake Quales officiating. Burial was in Liberty Cemetery.
