Dean Lester Kocher, 84, of Malvern, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2013, at Mercy Medical Center.
Dean was born in Malvern on July 13, 1928. He was the son of the late Tena (Koontz) and Jerome Frank Kocher.
He was a 1946 graduate of Malvern High School. He served four years in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was a life member of St. Martin Lutheran Church in Malvern. He retired in 1994 from Roman Plumbing Company, as owner and president.
Dean is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ruth (Evans) Kocher; two sons, Scott (Nancy) Kocher of Malvern and Douglas Kocher of Malvern; sister-in-law, Maggie Kocher of Pennsylvania; seven grandchildren, Allison (Tim) Seidel of Pittsburgh, Pa., Megan Kocher and Sara Hurley of Minneapolis, Minn., Scott Kocher II of Malvern, Tatum (Nathan) Tustin of Waynesburg, Pa., Tyler (Amy) Kocher of Canton, and Kailee and Evan Kocher of Malvern; two great-grandchildren, Ava Kocher and Darrah Seidel; 18 nieces; and 19 nephews.
He is preceded in death by brothers, Forrest (Elsie) Kocher, Ray Kocher, Elmer (Marie) Kocher, and Paul Kocher; and sisters, Bernice (Earl) Laubacher, Eileen (Cryil) Jamison, and Shirley Kocher.
Funeral services were held at St. Martin Lutheran Church, in Malvern, Friday, Feb. 1, with the Rev. A. Wallace Anderson officiating. Burial was in Bethlehem Cemetery.
