Robert Alexander McMillan was born June 10, 1925 in Minerva, to George B. and Alverta Houk McMillan. He entered his eternal rest on Feb. 10, 2013, in Bradenton, Fla.
He was a member of the Lutheran church his entire lifetime. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Minerva, where he served as the church organist for 30 years from 1958-1987. In retirement, Robert was an associate member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Bradenton, Fla. where he made his second home.
Robert was a graduate of Minerva High School, class of 1943 and the College of Wooster, class of 1947. He taught private piano lessons for 19 years and was associated with General Color and Chemical Plastics Division. He retired in 1987 and split his home between Minerva and Bradenton.
Robert was a life member of the Masonic Lodge No. 551 F&AM and Scottish Rite Valley of Canton. He was also a member of the Minerva Historical Society. Robert was a life master in ACBL and a member of the Bradenton Bridge Club. He enjoyed all holidays and was passionate about entertaining friends and family.
Robert is survived by a brother, George B. (Ruth) McMillan of Piqua; nieces, Debra McMillan-Ash (William) of West Chester, and Elizabeth Remsburg-Bell (William) of San Diego, Calif.; and nephews, David McMillan (Theresa) of Piqua, and Dan McMillan (Tami) of Centerville.
He was predeceased by his parents; sister, Mary Elizabeth (Betsy) Remsburg; and nephew, Singleton E. Remsburg III.
A memorial Service was held on Sunday, Feb. 17, at 12:15 p.m., in Trinity Lutheran Church, Bradenton. There will be a family graveside service in Columbiana at a future date.
