Irene Johnson, 88, of Minerva, went to be with the Lord, Feb. 14, 2017, surrounded by her loving family in the comfort care of Alliance Community Care Center.
She was born Feb. 24, 1928, in Ulysses, Kentucky, to William and Nora (Hale) George. She retired from Ohio Drill & Tool, worked for J.C. Baxter Tube and Isalys. She was a member of the First Church of God in Minerva, where she was a part of the N.E.O. Missionary Society, the Sunday School Superintendent, taught Sunday school and was a youth leader.
She is preceded in death by her Husband, Elbert Johnson, who died June 29, 2004; two brothers, Jesse George, and the Rev. Howard George; and son-in-law, Larry Gram. She is survived by two daughters, Kaaren (Doug) Tinlin of Minerva, and Linda (Ed) Musguire of Lisbon; two sons, Larry Johnson of Minerva, and David (Theresa) Johnson of Tullahoma, Tenn.; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, Feb. 18, 11 a.m., in the Great Trail Community Church of God in Minerva with Pastor Ray Martin officiating. Burial will be in the East Lawn Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Friday, Feb. 17, 6-8 p.m., at the Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home in Minerva.
