Richard "Rick" Crawford, 65, of Minerva, died Monday, April 10, 2017, in his home.
He was born Oct. 8, 1951, in East Liverpool to Marybelle (Dailey) Crawford of Millport and the late Charles Crawford. He retired from the Minerva Local Schools where he had been a teacher and guidance counselor for 29 years. He started his career in South Central Local where he had worked for six years. He graduated from Southern Local High School in 1969, received his bachelor's in Education from Bowling Green and his master's in School Counseling from Bowling Green. He is a member of the Bethesda Presbyterian Church.
He is survived his wife, Julie (Taucher) Crawford, whom he married June 2, 2012; two sons, Ryan (Andrea Crabtree) Crawford of Columbus, and Matthew Crawford of Columbus; stepdaughter, Mary Demarest of Salem; stepson, Eli (Brittany) Jacobs of Salem; four sisters, Karen Emerick of Millport, Carla (Scott) Sabatino of Hanoverton, Teresa (Jim) Arrasmith of Minerva, and Becky Jo (Mark) Boice of Vermillion; brother, Michael (Deb) Crawford of Lisbon; two grandsons, Jaxson Jacobs, and Liam Demarest; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He is preceded in death by a sister, Linda McIntosh.
Funeral services will be Friday, April 14, at 7 p.m. in the Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home in Minerva, with Pastor Tom Allmon officiating. Calling hours will be held Friday 4-7 p.m. prior to services. Memorial contributions may be made to the Melanoma Research Foundation.
