Jack E. Schaefer, 89, of Minerva, died Friday, April 21, 2017, at the Alliance Community Hospital.
He was born May 3, 1927, in Minerva to Philip and Thelma (Cupples) Schaefer.
He worked for Sears for 27 years, starting as a service manager and retiring as regional manager for northern Ohio.
He was also a District Manager for Certified Oil Company and taught for the US Navy Reserves. He graduated from Minerva High School.
He was a member of the Minerva First Christian Church, and a 64 year member of Augusta Lodge 504 F&AM and Scottish Rite, Valley of Canton. He served as the organist for Tubal Masonic Lodge and the Scottish Rite for many years and received the Meritorious Service Award for his many years of dedication.
He is survived by his wife, Agnes Belle (Rohrer) Schaefer, whom he married June 25, 1955; two sons, Jack (JoAnn) Schaeffer of North Canton, and Jeffrey (Sharon) Schaefer of Minerva; a sister, Judy Vesco of Zanesville; two brothers, Glenn (Shirley) Schaefer of Green, and Lee (Ruth) Schaefer of South Carolina; a grandson, Jeremy (Adriane) Schaefer. He is preceded in death by three brothers, Dick, Duane and Val Schaefer, two grandsons, Jamie and Heath.
Funeral services will be held April 24 in the Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home in Minerva, with the Rev. Keith Weiebe officiating. Burial was at the Liberty Cemetery in Minerva.
