In response to a letter to the editor by Dan Lombardi about the 12-15 year olds in McDonalds.- What are we going to do about the 60-90 year old retirees who come in to McDonalds every morning, taking up multiple seats, messing up the newspapers, overusing the bathrooms and only buying a cup of coffee?
Not to mention they take up one parking space per person, why can't they carpool? As the father of one of the 12-15 year old, occasional patrons you mentioned, I'm here to let you know that as a whole, these kids are good kids, well behaved and good mannered and not the things you described them as. I'm sure that from time to time there is a profanity uttered or a soda left behind every now and again and possibly a bad apple might make the entire group look bad occasionally.
However, I'm certain that if this was the overarching behavior of the group the management would deal with them appropriately, which I would encourage. I would argue that the kids do in fact purchase merchandise, otherwise they couldn't spill it or leave it behind, but I could be wrong.
You might take a moment to reflect on your own teenage years and ask yourself if you might be generalizing or possibly overreacting. These are teens being teens and enjoying each other's company after practice or tutoring or band etc. waiting for a ride home. Maybe you could relax a bit?
I suggest you take your complaint directly to McDonalds' management and let them decide if they feel they have a problem that needs attention. Or, as you mentioned, Hardee's doesn't have this particular problem. I'm sure they would love to have you there.
