Minerva High School sophomore Blaze Bryan has been selected to be a People to People student ambassador this summer, and a fundraiser luncheon will be held Sunday, March 7, to help pay for his trip.
People to People was founded by Dwight D. Eisenhower with the idea that ordinary citizens of different nations could solve their problems and live harmoniously with one another.
Eisenhower said, "I like to believe that people in the long run are going to do more to promote peace than our governments."
Blaze will travel with 39 area students and adult chaperones to England, France, Belgium, and the Netherlands on an educational exploration with unique access to people and places available only to student ambassadors.
A ham luncheon fundraiser will be served at Minerva United Methodist Church, 204 N. Main St., at 11:45 a.m.
There will also be a special musical presentation during the meal by the singing musical theater students of Powell Dance-Sing Center. The group will showcase a few of its theatrical song and dance pieces, varying from light Christian selections, storytelling songs, and show tunes.
This event is open to the public and donations will be taken for the meal.
Anyone unable to attend the luncheon, but wanting to contribute to this once-in-a-lifetime experience for Blaze, may send donations to 22664 U.S. Route 30, Minerva, Ohio 44657.
Blaze is the son of Rick and Ronda Bryan, brother of Michaela, and grandson of Stewart and Judy Bryan and Ron and Charlotte Davies.
