Kick off night set for Feb. 21

4-H Kick Off Night will be held Tuesday, Feb. 21, 6 p.m., at the Carrollton High School cafeteria, celebrating a new year in Carroll County 4-H. Clubs and members that excelled in 2011 will be recognized and awards will be presented to Honor Members and Honor Clubs, and for outstanding secretary and treasurer books.

Teen Leaders Club offered

Any member age 13 or older as of Jan. 1 can join the Carroll County Teen Leaders Club, giving them the opportunity to take 4-H even farther. Members will work with local politics, community service, public speaking and more. Anyone interested in joining should contact Ryan Pape at the Extension office, 330-627-4310, or e-mail pape.31@osu.edu.

Volunteer and Teen conferences set for March 10

The 2012 Volunteer Conference and Teen Conference will be held simultaneously at the Greater Columbus Convention Center on March 10. the first session will start at 9 a.m. and the day will conclude at 4 p.m. Anyone interested in attending can register at www.ohio4h.org-register-, using the username "volconf" and password "ovc04". The cost for the event is $35 if you register before Friday, Feb. 10, and $45 after that date. The conferences offer many leadership activities that can be used with clubs. Jr. Fair Committee forms due

If a club has not already turned in its Junior Fair Committee forms (large animal, small animal, horse, and still project), designating the club's representative, please do so immediately. Only those individuals whose names appear on the forms that are completed and returned will be notified about the committee meetings. The committees help plan events, coordinate Junior Fair events, and are the starting point for rule changes. E-mail carrollcountyjrfair@gmail.com, or call Wes at 234-521-3909 with questions.

Market-turkey order forms

Market-turkey order forms are available from the Extension office. All market turkeys shown at the 2012 Carroll County Junior Fair must be ordered this way. The minimum order is five birds, and the maximum order is 10 birds per exhibitor. The cost will be $2.50/bird (checks made payable to the Carroll County Junior Fair Sales Committee), and orders are due back by Friday, Feb. 24, to the Extension office. Pickup will be during the last week of March, with the exact date and time to be announced.

Facilities Improvement Committee fundraiser

The Facilities Improvement Committee will hold a fundraiser at Ponderosa on Monday, Feb. 13, 4-9 p.m. Anyone who orders during this time will help the FIC raise funds for the ongoing improvements of the Junior Fair facilities. Ponderosa donates 10 percent of the receipts taken during this time to the FIC.

Dairy beef feeder tag-in

Dairy beef feeder tag-in will be Saturday, March 24, 9-11 a.m., at the Metal Barn. All dairy beef feeders must be properly castrated and dehorned prior to tag-in. Call Ray Rummell with any questions at 740-269-0661.

Tag-in, tattooing, testing on May 12

Market hog, goat and lamb tag-in, rabbit tattooing, and poultry pullorum testing will be Saturday, may 12, 9-11 a.m., at the fairgrounds.

All market lambs, goats, and hogs must be properly castrated, and dehorned if applicable, prior to tag-in. New for 2012 is a requirement that all Junior Fair goats and sheep must have scrapie tags this year (breeding and market).

All market lambs and goats must have a scrapie tag present at the time of tag-in.
